최상임 민생당 공동대표는 성명을 통해 “김대중 대통령 당시인 2000년 제주 4·3사건 진상규명 및 희생자 명예회복에 관한 특별법이 제정 공포됨으로써 정부 차원의 진상규명이 이루어졌다"라면서 "4·3의 비극은 6.25 다음으로 현대사에서 양민 학살의 가장 피해가 큰 희생이 있었고, 약 8년 동안 폭도・빨갱이, 용공, 산사람으로 내몰리면서 30만 도민 중 3만여 명이 희생된 사건임에도, 최근 극우성향 정당과 세력들이 4·3사건에 대한 노골적인 폄훼와 왜곡으로 대한민국 역사의 진실마저 뒤흔들기에 앞장서고 있다"라고 힐책했다.

이날 기자회견에 참석한 민생당과 도당 관계자들은 “특별법으로까지 제정한 역사를 왜곡하고 김일성지지 운운하는 태영호 국민의힘 최고의원과 극우정당과 단체 그리고 4·3 당시 악명을 떨쳤던 서북청년단을 계승한 서북청년단 구국결사대 등의 행태”를 규탄하면서 “4·3 영령과 10만 유족들을 모독하는 행위를 당장 멈추고 4·3 영령과 국민 앞에 무릎 꿇고 사죄하라"라고 촉구했다.
이날 참석한 민생당 중앙당 최상임 공동대표, 임동순 사무총장, 양건모 수석대변인, 김광일 총무부총장을 비롯해 양윤녕 제주도당위원장, 천장옥 수석부위원장, 박예수 부위원장 등 도당 당직자 20여 명은 제주 4·3의 진실과 정의의 칼로 역사를 왜곡하는 극우세력의 행태를 단호하게 바로잡지 못하는 윤석열 정부를 규탄했다.
