KT&G가 강릉 산불로 피해를 입은 주민들에게 3억원을 지원하기로 했다.
KT&G는 최근 산불로 특별재난지역으로 선포된 강릉 지역 주민들을 위해 성금 3억원을 긴급 지원한다.
지원금은 사회복지공동모금회를 통해 재해구호협회에 전달되며, 해당금액은 이재민들의 긴급 주거시설과 피해건물 복구비용, 생계비 및 구호물품 지원 등에 사용될 예정이다.
이번 성금은 KT&G 임직원들이 자발적으로 참여해 조성한 기부성금인 ‘상상펀드’에서 마련됐다. 상상펀드는 임직원들이 급여에서 매달 적립한 성금에 회사가 동일한 금액을 더해서 운용하는 KT&G만의 독창적인 사회공헌기금이다.
심영아 KT&G 사회공헌실장은 “피해 지역의 조속한 정상화와 주민분들의 빠른 일상생활 복귀를 기원한다”며 “산불 피해 지역에 대한 지속적인 관심을 통해 다양한 방법으로 도움을 드릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, KT&G의 자회사인 KGC인삼공사는 1억원 상당의 정관장 홍삼 제품을 산불 피해 지역 주민들과 이재민들에게 제공할 방침이다.
앞서 KT&G는 지난해 경북 울진과 강원 삼척 등 동해안 지역에서 발생한 산불 피해에 5억원의 성금을 전달했고, 2019년 4월 강원 고성·속초·동해 등 지역에서 발생한 산불 피해에 5억원을 기부한 바 있다. 또한 올해 튀르키예 지진 피해 성금 3억원을 지원하는 등 최근 10년간 국내외 재해복구 지원을 위해 총 76억원 규모의 성금을 전달했다.
