[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 우주산업 클러스터 위성특화지구의 핵심 인프라인 ‘우주환경시험시설 구축사업’에 대한 한국과학기술기획평가원의 예비타당성조사 현장 실사가 18일 진행됐다.
이번 현장실사는 지난 1월 과학기술정보통신부의 우주산업 기반시설(인프라) 구축사업이 국가연구개발사업 예비타당성조사 대상으로 선정됨에 따라 이뤄졌다.
이날 실사는 과학기술정보통신부ㆍ한국과학기술기획평가원ㆍ과학기술정책연구원ㆍ진주시ㆍ경남도ㆍ한국산업기술시험원ㆍLH 관계자 등이 참여한 가운데 상대동 한국산업기술시험원 우주부품시험센터와 정촌면 경남항공국가산업단지 사업 현장에서 진행됐다.
현장실사에 참석한 조규일 시장은 “부지 제공 등 사업 추진에 필요한 요구사항을 최대한 충족하여 본 사업이 차질 없이 추진될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
이어 “진주시는 우주산업 육성을 위하여 초소형위성 개발사업 등 연구개발 분야에 집중투자하고 있으며, 시험인증 및 연구기관과 교육기관 등 기존의 우수한 인프라에 더하여 우주환경시험시설이 구축된다면 시너지 효과가 극대화될 것으로 기대된다”고 덧붙였다.
우주환경시험시설 구축사업은 향후 10년 이상 민·관·군의 범국가적 위성수요에 대응할 수 있는 국제 수준의 시험시설을 구축하기 위하여 총사업비 4259억 원을 투입해 2029년 본격 운영을 목표로 우주부품시험센터를 확장 이전하는 사업이다.
우주환경시험시설은 시험인증과 연구개발, 기업지원, 인력양성 등의 다양한 임무를 수행하게 되며, 이를 중심으로 위성 관련 기업, R&D센터, 시험시설 등도 집약된다.
진주시는 우주환경시험시설 구축사업의 예비타당성조사 통과를 위하여 앞으로도 과기정통부, 경남도와 긴밀하게 협조할 예정이며, 조사가 마무리되는 대로 사업예산 확보 등 제반 절차를 조속히 진행한다는 방침이다.
