브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= KB국민은행은 개체수가 급감하고 있는 꿀벌 생태계 회복을 위한 ‘K-Bee 프로젝트’의 일환으로, 서울숲에 ‘K-Bee 도시양봉장’ 2호를 조성했다고 12일 밝혔다.
이번 도시양봉장은 작년 4월 여의도 KB국민은행 본관 옥상 양봉장에 이어 도심 속에 조성한 두 번째 양봉장으로, 노후화 된 양봉장과 Bee Hotel 등을 리뉴얼해 꿀벌들의 새 보금자리를 조성했다. 앞으로 꿀벌 약 12만 마리가 거주할 예정이다.
KB국민은행은 세계 벌의 날을 맞아 지난 11일 서울숲 도시 양봉장 및 꿀벌정원 일대에서 꿀벌 체험행사도 진행했다. 이날 행사에는 김인숙 서울시 동부공원여가센터 소장, 문혜숙 KB국민은행 ESG본부 상무, KB금융그룹이 후원 중인 차준환, 이해인 선수가 직접 방문해 의미를 더했다.
또한, KB구의어린이집 어린이들도 꿀벌 정원 내 벌들을 위한 밀원식물을 심고 비호텔을 꾸미며 새집으로 이사한 꿀벌들이 건강하게 자라기를 기원했다.
KB국민은행 관계자는 “올해는 그 어느 해보다 봄꽃이 빨리 피는 등 꿀벌 생태계는 여전히 기후변화로 인해 위협받고 있다”며 “앞으로도 꿀벌의 중요성을 알리고 꿀벌 생태계 복원을 위해 노력을 아끼지 않을 것이다”고 전했다.
한편, KB금융그룹은 생물다양성 보존을 위한 꿀벌 생태계 회복 지원 사회공헌 프로젝트인 ‘K-Bee 프로젝트’를 지속하고 있다. 꿀벌 서식지 조성을 위해 여의도 KB국민은행 본관 옥상에 도시양봉장을 조성하고 서울식물원 내 야생벌을 위한 비호텔을 설치했다.
또한, 창경궁 일대에 밀원수로 이루어진 궁궐숲을 조성하고, 강원도 홍천 지역에는 백합나무, 헛개나무, 아까시나무 등 개화시기가 서로 다른 밀원수 10만 그루를 다양하게 조성, 전국 봄꽃 동시개화 및 개화기간 단축 등 기후변화로 인한 꿀벌 생태계 변화에 대응하고 있다.
