동료의원 성추행 의혹으로 사퇴 압박을 받아온 세종시의회 상병헌 의장에 대한 불신임안이 가결돼 민주당 소속 상병헌 의장이 의장직을 잃게 됐다.
세종시의회는 22일 제 83회 정례회 1차 본회의를 열고 '상병헌의장 불신임 결의안을 투표에 부쳐 전체 의원 17명중 15명이 찬성표를 던져 불신임안을 가결시켰다.
의회 내 다수당인 민주당 의원들도 상 의장에게 등을 돌린 결과로 상병헌 의장은 지난해 7월1일 취임이후 10개월 20일만에 의장직을 상실하게 되는 불명예 퇴진을 하게됐다.
투표에 앞서 상 의장은 신상발언을 통해 "정당간,의원간 반목을 해결하기 위해 만찬자리를 마련했는데 동료의원 2명이 문제를 제기하면서 이런 상황에 이르게 됐다"고 해명했다.
앞서 상 의장은 지난해 8월말 시의원 국회연수를 마치고 서울 여의도 한 음식점 열린 만찬자리에서 같은당 소속 유 모의원 특정 신체 부위를 만지고 국민의 힘 김 모의원 에게 입맞춤하는 등 성추행 혐의로 불구속 기소됐다.
한편 민주당 중앙당은 지난 18일 상 의장에 대해 당원권 정지 1년 징계를 내렸다.
더불어민주당 세종시당은 상병헌 의장에 대한 불신임안이 가결된 직후 입장문을 배포하고 "오랜 심사 끝에 징계 결정이 확정된 바 시민 여러분께 석고대죄의 마음으로 용서 구하며 사과의 말씀을 드린다"며 고개를 숙였다..
