이번에 무료 개방하는 캐릭터는 리뉴얼캐릭터인 ‘SNS 금이관이’의 기본형과 응용형(총 91종)을 공공누리 제3유형으로 캐릭터 이미지는 출처표시, 변형금지 등의 조건을 따라야 한다.
앞서 시는 지난 1월 공공용으로만 이용이 가능한 공공누리 제4유형으로 개방돼 시민과 관광객들에게 아쉬움을 남겼다.
공개된 캐릭터 이미지는 경주시 홈페이지(살기 좋은 경주/경주소개/경주의 상징) 메뉴에서 다운로드할 수 있다.
시는 문화와 가치가 담긴 ‘SNS 금이관이’가 민간 영역에도 활용돼 경제적·문화적 부가가치 창출과 도시 매력도 향상에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
남심숙 미래전략실장은 “경주시민의 날을 맞아 ‘SNS 금이관이’의 저작권을 보유하면서도 개방을 통해 민간 활용성을 높였다”며 “보다 많은 시민들이 적극적으로 활용해 지역의 매력과 시의 브랜드 제고에 많은 보탬이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

The city expects that ‘SNS Geumyigwani’, which contains culture and values, will be used in the private sector as well, contributing greatly to the creation of economic and cultural added value and the improvement of the city’s attractiveness.
