브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 전라남도 순천시 서면 운평리에 위치한 죽동마을에 돈벼락이 내렸다.
이 마을 주민들은 최근 적게는 2600만원부터 최대 9020만원까지 거액의 현금을 입금받았다.
이 돈의 출처는 이중근 부영그룹 회장이었다.
부영측에 따르면 이중근 회장은 운평리 6개 마을 280여세대 주민들에게 마을 거주 연수에 따라 5단계로 차등해 세금을 공제한 뒤 현금을 지급했다.
이유는 단 하나다. 고향 마을을 지키고 살아줘서 고맙다는 것. 1941년 죽동마을의 한 농가에서 태어난 가난한 어린시절을 보냈다는 이중근 회장은 자신의 어린 시절을 도와줬던 고향 마을 사람들에게 고마움을 표시한 것이라고 했다.
이 회장은 또한 자신이 졸업한 서면 동산초등학교(25회)와 순천중학교(15회), 순천고등학교(8회) 동창생들에게도 현금을 줬다. 초·중학교 동창엔 1억씩, 고등학교 동창에겐 5000만원씩 전달했다.
자신과 같이 땀흘리며 군 복무를 한 전우들에게도 현금을 지급했다고 한다.
이 회장은 2년 전 직계 가족을 제외한 친척들에게도 최대 10억원까지 재산을 나눠주기도 했다.
이에 대해 부영은 이 회장이 개인적으로 한 일들이라고 전하며 현금으로 기부한 금액만 총 1400억원에 이른다고 전했다. 기부된 돈은 모두 이 회장의 사재다.
한편 이 회장에게 큰 선물을 받은 고향마을 주민들은 이중근 회장에게 고맙다는 말씀밖에 드릴 게 없다면서 마을에 이 회장 공덕비를 세우는 안건에 대해 논의 중이다.
