【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=주낙영 경주시장은 3일 시청 알천홀에서 민선 8기 출범 1주년 간담회에서경주 미래발전 100년 앞당길 마중물인 2025 APEC 정상회의를 시·도민의 염원을 담아 반드시 유치하겠다고 약속했다.
이날 주 시장은 지난 1년간 핵심 성과로 2025년 준공 예정인 문무대왕과학연구소와 함께 ‘서플라이 체인(Supply Chain)’을 구축해 SMR 수출시장을 선점할 소형모듈원자로(SMR) 국가산업단지 유치를 말하며 역사문화도시 기반위에 미래 원전·자동차 중심의 새로운 경제지도 대변화의 서막을 열었다고 평가했다.
특히 올 상반기 최고 이벤트인 대릉원 입장료 폐지와 대릉원 미디어아트를 비롯해 골목야시장인 ‘불금예찬’, ‘중심상권 동행’ 행사 등을 안내하며 도심에도 관광·경제 활기를 되찾고 있다고 설명했다.
더불어 나정교 우회로 차로 신설, 황오동 지하차도 평면화 개통, 동대교 지하차로 선형 개량공사, 황성동 주택가 공원묘지 정비(주차장 조성) 등 시민들에게 감동을 주는 소확행 사업의 성과도 덧붙였다.
이어 민선 8기 2년차를 맞아 향후 시정 주요 청사진을 밝히며 미래를 주도할 역점사업을 소개했다.
주 시장은 “APEC 정상회의는 단순 회의를 한다거나 도시의 발전상을 보여주는 것이 아닌 한국의 역사와 문화, 전통과 경제발전상을 전 세계에 알리는 국격 상승과 국가자긍심을 고취하는 국제회의”라며 “지방화 시대를 국가 균형발전과 APEC의 포용적 성장가치를 실현하는 지방도시인 경주가 개최해야 할 명분과 당위성은 충분하다”고 거듭 강조했다.
여기에 향후 경주만의 강점을 내세워 경주유치 100만 서명운동, 정부와 대국민 등을 상대로 전방위 유치 세일즈, 민간주도 시민의식 선진화 운동 전개 등을 중심으로 유치 활동에 전력투구 하겠다고 재차 강조했다.
또한 오랫동안 시민들의 힐링 공간으로 제공됐던 황성공원 재정비 그랜드 플랜을 설명했다.
전체 근린공원으로 지정됐던 도시관리계획을 일부 문화공원으로 변경해 종합운동장과 축구공원(1~4구장)을 이전(폐지)하고 지식정보센터, 커뮤니티 공간을 접목한 복합문화도서관 건립 계획을 안내했다.
다음으로 옛 경주역 부지에 대한 사업 추진경과와 향후 한국철도공사·국가철도공단 등의 협의를 포함한 사용·매입 방안에 대한 비전을 제시했다.
이밖에도 지난해 태풍 힌남노 피해지역에 대한 피해현황(피해건수 754건, 복구액 2892억원)을 설명하고 재해복구사업의 조기 마무리를 통해 시민의 생명과 재산 보호에 더욱 박차를 가하겠다고 약속했다.
