이순열 세종시의회 의장은 지난 6일 양지중 3학년 학생을 대상으로' 찾아가는 의회 교실'을 운영했다고 10일 밝혔다.
시의회에 따르면 찾아가는 의회 교실은 세종시의회에서 운영하는 청소년 의회 교실 프로그램 중 하나다. 세종시의원이 지역내 학교를 방문해 지방의회와 시의원의 역할을 알기 쉽게 설명하고 질의응답을 통해 친근한 소통의 시간을 가지는 프로그램이다.
이날 진행된 의회 교실은 양지중 도서관에서 이루어졌으며 참여 학생들이 이순열 의장을 만나 지역 현안과 생활 불편 사항 등 주제별로 다양한 질문을 이어갔다.
이 밖에도 학생들은 새로 만들어진 조례나 규칙의 내용을 경청하고, 세종시 예산에 대하여 질의하는 등 활발한 체험활동을 이어갔다.
이순열 의장은 행사를 마치며 “세종시의 미래이자 나아가 대한민국의 미래인 여러분들과 함께한 이 자리는 정말 뜻깊다”고 소감을 전했다.
더불어 “오늘 이 자리는 지역 현안에 관심이 많은 명석한 학생들이 많다는 것을 깨달을 수 있는 자리였다. 앞으로도 그 관심을 이어가서 세상을 더 나은 방향으로 이끌어가는 어른으로 자라달라”고 당부했다.
