브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 대우건설은 18일 오전 한국원자력연구원과 연구협력 MOU를 체결했다고 밝혔다.
을지로 대우건설 본사에서 진행된 MOU 체결식에는 대우건설 백정완 사장과 한국원자력연구원 주한규 원장 및 관계자들이 참석했다. 양사는 향후 선진원자력 연구개발 공동참여와 신사업 발굴을 위해 상호 협력을 추진하기로 했다.
양사의 주요 협력분야는 차세대 소형모듈원전(SMR, Small Modular Reactor)과 해외 연구용 원자로, 사용후핵연료 저장 및 처분기술 등이며, 이를 위해 양사는 공동연구와 인력교류, 연구 시설 및 장비 등을 공동으로 활용하기로 했다.
또한, 연구협력 분야에서도 선진기술 국책과제를 공동수행하며 대우건설 자사의 설계/연구인력 등의 투자가 이뤄질 전망이다.
대우건설은 이번 MOU로 국내 유일의 원자력 전문연구기관과의 협업을 추진하고. 원전시장에서의 경쟁력을 더욱 확대해 나간다는 계획이다.

특히, 해외원전에서 체코·폴란드 원전수출을 위한 팀코리아에 대한민국을 대표해 참여하고 있는 대우건설은 2024년 수주를 기대하고 있으며, 국내에서는 이달 11일 공고된 신한울3·4호기 주설비공사 입찰에도 공들이고 있다. 국내 원전사업 최초로 종합심사낙찰제(고난이도)특례안 공사 방식이 적용되는 만큼 다양한 원전분야의 경험을 기술제안서에 반영하여 반드시 수주를 따낸다는 각오다.
대우건설 관계자는 “한국원자력연구원과의 MOU를 통해 원자력 선진기술 연구개발에 함께 참여하여 원천기술을 확보하고 신사업 발굴을 추진할 예정”이라며 “양사가 상호 긴밀한 협력을 통해 우리나라 원자력 과학기술 및 산업 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것이다”고 말했다.
