브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대표가 단식 16일차에 접어든 가운데 의료진들은 더이상의 단식은 위험하다며 입원을 권고했다. 하지만 이 대표는 여전히 단식을 강행하겠다는 입장이다.
천준호 당대표 비서실장은 15일 오전 국회에서 기자들과 만난 자리에서 "이재명 대표의 전체적인 신체 기능이 심각하게 저하돼 있다. 특히 공복 혈당 수치가 매우 낮아 건강이 대단히 위험한 상황이라 의료진들이 입원을 권고했다"고 밝혔다.
천 실장은 그러나 이재명 대표가 단식을 이어가겠다는 의지가 강하다면서 이 대표를 강제로 병원에 입원시킬 수도 없는 노릇이라고 매우 우려스럽다고 했다.
한편, 정치권 안팎에서도 이 대표의 단식을 만류하는 목소리와 발길이 이어지고 있다.
민주당 의원들은 연일 이 대표를 찾아 단식을 만류하고 있다. 이날 오전에는 김성주·김성환·김용민·남인순·민형배·박주민·백혜련·신정훈·윤영덕·이동주·이학영·주철현 의원 등이 이 대표가 농성 중인 당대표실을 찾아 단식 중단을 권하고 갔다. 이 대표는 당초 국회 본청 앞 천막에서 단식을 진행했으나 지난 13일부터 국회본청 안 당 대표실로 옮겨 단식 농성을 지속하고 있다.
비명(비이재명)계로 분류되는 조응천 민주당 의원도 이날 이 대표를 찾았다. 조 의원은 침상에 누워있는 이 대표의 손을 잡고 단식 중단을 요청하며 약 2분 간 대화를 이어갔다.
김기현 국민의힘 대표도 지난 15일 최고위원회의에서 이 대표의 단식 중단을 요청하며 "이 대표의 건강이 악화하고 있다고 전해진다. 건강을 해치는 단식을 중단하시길 정중히 요청드린다. 거대 야당의 대표가 정부 국정운영을 점검하고 내년 나라 살림을 챙겨야 하는 정기국회에서 단식을 계속하는 건 바람직하지 않다"고 했다.
