브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 대우건설은 태풍 다니엘로 심각한 피해를 입은 리비아 데르나·벵가지 지역 국민의 피해복구를 위한 인도적 지원을 진행하기로 결정했다고 21일 밝혔다.
대우건설은 이번 리비아 홍수 피해에 대해 50만 달러(한화 약 6억 원) 규모로 리비아 적신월사 등을 통해 지원할 예정이다.
대우건설은 지원 품목으로 현지에서 가장 필요한 물품인 거주용 컨테이너 등을 데르나(Derna)에 전달하고 필요한 구호물품들을 지원할 계획이다.
또한, 이번 태풍으로 침수 피해를 입은 벵가지 시로부터 다가올 우기철에 대비한 시내 펌프장 기능 재건을 위한 기술지원을 요청 받아 이에 적극적으로 협력하고, 벵가지 침수 지역 복구에 필요한 대형 펌프도 지원할 예정이다.
대우건설 관계자는 “어려울 때 친구가 진정한 친구라는 격언처럼 대우건설의 위로가 리비아 국민께 조금이나마 전달되기를 바란다”며 “리비아는 오랜 기간 대우건설 역사의 한 장을 차지해 온 국가로 조속한 피해복구가 이뤄질 수 있기를 희망한다”고 전했다.
한편, 대우건설은 정식 수교 전인 1978년 국내 기업 최초로 리비아에 진출한 이래 발전, 석유화학, 토목, 건축 등 다양한 분야에서 총 163 건에 달하는 프로젝트와, 호텔 등의 투자사업을 수행했다. 이러한 신뢰가 쌓여 올해 3월 약 1조원의 패스트트랙 발전공사를 수주하기도 했다.
