브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 농협중앙회 이재식 부회장이 지난 24일 서울 중구 농업박물관 앞 체험농장에 조성된 논에서 어린이들과 함께 전통 방식 벼베기 및 탈곡을 재연했다.
이날 행사에는 지역 내 금화초등학교 3학년 학생들이 참석해 지난 5월 손모내기 때 심었던 벼를 이 부회장과 함께 수확하고 홀태와 탈곡기를 사용하는 등 옛 방식으로 추수했다.
참가자들은 박물관 앞 정자에서 떡과 음료 등 전통음식으로 새참을 함께 나눠 먹으며 올해 처음 수확한 벼 이삭을 집안에 걸어두는 풍속인 올개심니에 대해 대화를 나누었고, 이 부회장은 어린이들에게 올개심니를 추수 기념으로 나눠 줬다.
농협은 도시지역 초등학생들에게 농경문화 계승과 미래 식량 안보, 우리 먹거리에 대한 소중함 등 농업·농촌의 다양한 공익적 역할에 대해 인식할 수 있는 계기를 부여하기 위해 이번 행사를 마련했다고 설명했다.
이 부회장은 “미래의 주역인 어린이들과 잊혀져 가고 있는 전통 농경문화를 재연하고 수확의 기쁨을 함께할 기회가 돼 기쁘다”며“우리 농업·농촌의 소중한 가치와 문화를 계속해서 보전하고 발전시켜 나가겠다”고 말했다.
