세종시의회는 8일 오전 8시부터 도담동 먹자골목 시계탑에서 ‘두 바퀴의 행복, 자전거 타고 출근하기’ 행사를 진행했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 세종시의회 의원과 의회사무처 직원들이 참여한 가운데 자전거를 이용한 친환경 출퇴근의 중요성과 장점을 알려 탄소중립 시대를 준비하자는 추진됐다.
이날 이순열 의장과 김광운 의원, 김효숙 의원, 안신일 의원 및 의회사무처 직원 10여 명은 자전거를 타고 도담동 시계탑에서 출발해 방축천·제천·금강 자전거길과 이응다리 남측을 거쳐 세종시의회에 도착했다.
참여자들은 총 7km에 육박하는 자전거 출근을 통해 출근길 교통 체증 없는 자전거 전용도로의 즐거움과 편리함을 체험했다.
이순열 의장은 “자전거는 친환경적이고 경제적이면서 건강도 챙길 수 있는 1석 3조의 이동수단”이라며 “세종시가 친환경 자전거 도시로 탄소중립에 기여할 수 있도록 의회 차원에서도 자전거 이용 활성화 정책을 적극 지원할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
