[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 외동 함박공원 다목적구장 조성을 완료했다고 8일 밝혔다.
시는 지난 1~3월 2억 3,000만원을 투입해 공원 내 기존 테니스장을 철거한 자리에 다양한 연령층이 여러 종목의 경기를 동시에 할 수 있는 다목적구장을 만들어 지난달 25일부터 개방했다.
철거한 테니스장은 소음 문제 등으로 인한 다수의 민원으로 지난 2017년부터 이전 검토가 시작됐다.
그러나 이전을 원하는 인근 주민과 존치를 원하는 테니스장 이용자 간 협의점을 찾지 못해 갈등이 이어졌다.
이에 시는 다수의 회의와 간담회로 갈등을 중재하고 양측의 입장을 고려한 합리적인 대안 찾기에 노력한 끝에 기술적 어려움을 극복하고 도보로 20분 거리에 있는 임호공원에 대체구장 2면을 조성하는 동시에 함박공원에는 다목적구장을 조성하는 협의점을 도출했다.
시는 주민 요구사항을 반영해 함박공원에 인조잔디 다목적구장과 함께 맨발 산책로 세족장, 운동기구를 설치하고 보행로 주변으로 다양한 수종의 나무와 잔디를 심어 시민들에게 더 좋은 여가 환경을 제공하고 있다.
