[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 15일 문산읍 두산리에서 ‘진주시 먹거리통합지원센터’ 개소식을 가졌다.
진주시 먹거리통합지원센터는 총 112억원의 예산을 투입해 지난 2022년 12월 문산읍 두산리 진주시농업기술센터 남측 부지에 착공했다.
먹거리통합지원센터는 부지면적 9091㎡, 건축물 연면적 2942㎡ 규모로 먹거리통합지원센터 1동(2145㎡)과 농산물종합가공센터 1동(797㎡)으로 지난 1월 준공했다.
먹거리통합지원센터 건립으로 공공급식에 진주지역의 우수한 농산물을 식재료로 공급하는 ‘먹거리의 선순환’이 가능해져 농가와 식품업체가 상생할 수 있는 체계가 구축됐다.
또 농산물종합가공센터는 지역 농산물을 활용해 과채주스, 혼합음료, 환, 절임류, 반찬 등을 직접 가공·판매래 농산물 가공산업 육성에 큰 역할을 하게 된다.
먹거리통합지원센터는 지난 3월부터 시범운영해 관내 11개 학교를 대상으로 양질의 식재료를 공급. 앞으로 진주시 내 전 학교와 공공기관 등으로 공급을 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
농산물종합가공센터는 총 88종, 198대의가공장비를 갖추고 시범운영 중이며, 오는 7월부터 본격적인 운영을 앞두고 있다.
조규일 진주시장은 “진주시는 우수한 먹거리를 공급할 인프라가 잘 구축돼 있다”며“우수하고 건강한 먹거리를 아이들에게 지속적으로 공급할 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.
