[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이현준기자] 시흥시는 시화호 30주년 기념 ‘거북섬 철인 3종 대회’를 개최했다.
지난 5일부터 6일까지 이틀간 거북섬 일원에서 경기도와 시흥시, 시흥시체육회, 대한철인3종협회가 공동 주최하고 주관했다.
대회 첫날인 토요일에는 웨이브파크 웨스트 라군에서 50여 명의 유치부와 초등부 철인 3종 꿈나무 어린이들이 수영과 달리기 등 2개 코스로 구성된 아쿠아슬론 경기에 참여해 열띤 경연을 펼쳤다.
둘째 날인 일요일에는 거북섬과 시화방조제 관리도로 일원에서 800여 명의 국내 성인 동호인부 선수들이 바다 수영 1.5킬로미터, 사이클 40킬로미터, 달리기 10킬로미터 코스를 완주하며 뛰어난 기량을 뽐냈다.
대회 첫날 행사는 오전 7시 ‘거북섬 마리나’에서 개회식과 함께 준비운동을 마친 후 바다 수영을 시작으로 진행됐으며, 행사는 약 5시간에 걸쳐 마무리됐다. 2일 차 대회에 참가하는 성인 동호인부 선수들은 첫날 오후 2시부터 대회 등록 및 경기 설명회에 참석해 종목별 코스를 직접 돌아보며 사전 점검을 철저히 했다.
주최 측은 대회를 완주한 선수들에게 완주 메달과 함께 시흥시 지역화폐인 시루 1만 원권을 지급해, 시흥을 방문한 철인 3종 동호인들에게 지역 내에서 소비할 수 있도록 유도하며 경제 활성화를 도모했다.
특히 이번 대회는 시화호 방조제 조성 30주년을 기념하며, 깨끗해진 거북섬 시화호 수질을 경험한 참가자들에게 긍정적인 평가를 받았다.
