최상목 대통령 권한대행 경제부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관이 처음 합동참모본부를 방문해 "흔들림 없는 군 지휘체계를 확립한 가운데 북한의 어떤 도발에도 즉각 대응할 수 있는 태세를 유지해야 한다"고 강조했다.
최 권한대행은 이날 오전 서울 용산구 합동참모본부 지휘통제실에서 회의를 열고 군사대비태세를 점검하며 군 순뇌부에 이같이 당부했다.
최 권한대행의 합참 방문한 것은 지난해 12월 27일 대통령 권한대행직을 맡은 이후 처음이다.
그러면서 "엄중한 시기 국민들이 국가안보에 대해 불안해하지 않도록 각자 위치에서 최선 노력을 다해달라"고 덧붙였다.
이 자리엔 김선호 국방부 장관 직무대행·김명수 합참의장·각군 참모총장(육군은 직무대리)·연합사부사령관·해병대사령관이 참석한 가운데 각 군 군단장급 이상 주요 직위자들은 화상으로 함께 했다.
