(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부천시가 10일, 관내 4개 대학인 가톨릭대학교, 서울신학대학교, 부천대학교, 유한대학교가 모두 경기도‘라이즈(RISE)’ 사업 공모에 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
부천시에 따르면, ‘라이즈(RISE)’ 사업은 학령인구 감소에 따른 지역과 대학의 위기를 극복하고, 지역사회와 대학의 동반 성장을 지원하기 위한 지역 혁신 중심 대학지원체계로, 경기도에서는 올해 처음 도입됐다.
이번 선정으로 부천시 소재 4개 대학은 연간 총 71억 2천만 원, 5년간 최대 356억 원의 사업비를 지원받는다.
이 같은 성과는 부천시와 지역대학이 지역 혁신 생태계 조성을 위해 지속적으로 협력해 온 결과다.
부천시는 2023년 ‘부천시와 대학의 상생발전 협력에 관한 조례’(장성철 부천시의회 의원 대표 발의)를 제정하고, 2024년에는 대학협력팀을 신설해 제도적 기반을 마련했다.
또한, 지난해부터 라이즈 공모 선정을 위해 소통 간담회, 업무협약 체결, 우수사례 강연, 상생발전협의회 협력 방안 논의, 사업 제안 등 선제적 행정 지원을 추진해 왔다.
조용익 부천시장은 “관내 4개 대학이 모두 라이즈 공모에 선정된 것은 부천시의 교육 경쟁력과 지역 혁신 역량이 대외적으로 인정받은 결과”라며 “이를 바탕으로 시와 대학이 긴밀히 협력해 지역 인재를 양성하고, 정주기반의 혁신 생태계를 구축해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 부천시는 앞으로도 지역대학과 협력해 산업 연계를 강화하고, 지역 맞춤형 인재를 양성하는 등 지자체-산업계-대학 간 협력 기반의 다양한 사업을 적극 추진할 계획이다.
