(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천해양경찰서가 12일 흉기로 선장을 협박한 외국인 선원을 검거했다고 밝혔다.
인천해경에 따르면 지난 6일 10시 30분께 옹진군 자월도 인근 해상에서 조업 중이던 통발어선(8.55t)에서 흉기를 들고 선장을 협박한 20대 베트남 선원 A씨를 특수협박 혐의로 불구속 입건했다.
A씨는 조업 중인 어선에서 선장이 똑바로 일을 하라고 꾸짖자 갑판 위에 놓여 있던 흉기를 들어 위협하고, 통발 어구를 집어 던진 혐의를 받고 있다.
인천해경 관계자는 “정확한 범행 동기를 조사하는 한편, 어선 등 고립된 해양환경에서 발생하는 우발적 범행에 대해 엄정히 수사할 방침”이라고 말했다.
아울러 “최근 외국인 선원이 증가하면서 언어 장벽으로 인해 작업 중 사고나 갈등이 생기는 경우가 있다”며 “바다에서 안전하게 조업할 수 있는 환경을 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
