충남 예산군지속가능발전협의회(회장 현석운)는 지난 14일 국립 예산 치유의 숲 일원에서 여름철 생태복원 탐사 프로그램인 ‘반디랑 놀자’를 성황리에 개최했다고 16일 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 반딧불이를 매개로 생태계 보전의 중요성과 지역 자연자원의 가치를 알리기 위한 취지로 마련됐으며, 참가 신청이 조기에 마감될 정도로 높은 관심을 끌었다.
총 40가족, 120명이 함께한 이번 프로그램은 체험 활동과 생태 탐사가 어우러진 구성으로 진행됐다. 행사 전반부에는 ‘카프라 나무블록 쌓기’, ‘한지공예 만들기’ 등 창의 체험 활동이 마련돼 가족 단위 참가자들의 호응을 얻었고, 해가 진 후에는 고요한 계곡 숲길을 따라 반딧불이 서식지를 관찰하는 야간 탐사 활동이 이어졌다.

참가 가족들은 인공조명 없이 어둠 속을 걸으며 반딧불이가 만들어내는 은은한 불빛을 따라 자연 생태의 경이로움과 생물 다양성의 가치를 직접 체감했다. 한 학부모는 “아이와 함께 반딧불이를 가까이서 관찰하며 자연이 주는 위로를 느꼈다. 이런 체험은 단순한 교육을 넘어선 소중한 시간이 됐다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
예산군은 6월부터 7월 사이 ‘애반딧불이’와 ‘운문산반딧불이’, 9월에는 ‘늦반딧불이’가 출현하는 지역으로 알려져 있으며, 이들 반딧불이는 건강한 자연 생태계의 지표종으로서 높은 보전 가치를 지닌다. 특히 국립 예산 치유의 숲과 황새공원 일대는 주요 서식지로, 체계적이고 지속적인 관리가 이뤄지고 있다.
군 관계자는 “이번 행사를 통해 반딧불이 보전과 복원의 중요성을 널리 알리고, 생태계의 건강성과 자연의 소중함을 함께 인식하는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 전했다.
