(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 19일,취약계층의 의료 접근성을 높이고 건강한 삶을 지원하기 위한 다각적인 의료비 지원 사업에 박차를 가하고 있다고 밝혔다.
남동구에 따르면, 올해 남동구 대상포진 무료 예방접종 사업 참여자 수는 지난 5월 기준 5천477명으로 집계됐다.
대상포진은 극심한 통증과 합병증으로 삶의 질을 떨어뜨리는 질병이나 예방접종 비용이 10~20만 원대에 달해 경제적으로 취약한 어르신들에게 큰 부담이었다.
이에 남동구는 민선 8기 공약으로 지난 2023년 8월 75세 이상 어르신을 대상으로 사업을 첫 시행 후 2024년 70세 이상, 올해 3월에는 65세 이상으로 대상 나이를 확대해왔다.
접종자 수는 시행 첫해 3,427명에서 2024년 9천200명으로 늘었고, 특히 올해 3월부터는 두 달여 만에 4천845명이 참여하는 등 사업 효과가 뚜렷하다.
남동구는 이번 사업이 취약계층의 경제적 부담은 물론 합병증으로 인한 장기적인 의료비 지출을 줄이는 데 역할을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
이와 함께 남동구가 취약계층 산모를 위해 지난 2023년 5월부터 시행 중인 산후 조리비 지원 사업도 순조롭게 추진되고 있다.
이 사업은 취약계층 산모를 대상으로 민간 산후조리원 이용 시 150만 원, 공공 산후조리원 이용 시 본인부담금 실비(최대 150만 원)를 지원한다.
남동구는 출산 가정에 상당한 부담인 산후조리 비용을 지원해 경제적 부담을 줄이는 동시에 산모들이 건강하게 회복해 아기를 돌볼 수 있도록 하고 있다.
지난 2023년 119명, 2024년 200명에게 각각 지원이 이뤄졌고, 올해 3월 기준 60명의 산모가 혜택을 받았다.
저출생 문제 해결을 위해 난임 가정을 위한 지원도 대폭 확대하고 있다.
지난 2023년부터 올해 3월까지 남동구 난임부부 시술비 지원사업을 통해 지원된 시술 건수는 3천773건으로 집계됐다.
