인천시에 따르면, 이번 취항식에는 유정복 인천시장과 문경복 옹진군수, 신영희 시 의원과 이의명 옹진군의회 의장, 보건복지부 곽순헌 건강정책국장을 비롯한 유관기관과 지역 주민 등 200여 명이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.
1부 행사는 역무선부두 4잔교에서 경과보고와 기념사, 명명패 전달 순으로 진행됐다.
2부에서는 병원선 내에서 테이프 커팅식과 선박 시찰, 시승 행사가 이어졌다.
이번 취항식은 2022년부터 추진된 병원선 대체 건조사업의 완료를 기념하는 자리로, 인천시는 국비 80억 원을 포함한 총 126억 원을 투입해 270톤급 최신식 병원선을 건조했다.
해당 병원선은 지난 5월부터 옹진군 6개 면을 대상으로 주 1회, 2박 3일 일정으로 연중 순회진료를 시작했다.
기존 병원선보다 몸집이 커진 신규 병원선 ‘건강옹진호’ 취항으로 진료지역이 확대돼 서해5도 지역을 포함한 6개면 17개 도서지역의 섬 주민들에게 의료서비스 제공이 가능해졌다.
신규병원선은 전장 47.2m, 폭 8.4m, 깊이 3.6m, 최대 항속거리 46km(25노트)로 44명이 승선 가능하다.
특히, 대청, 백령, 연평 지역까지 안정적으로 운항할 수 있어 섬 주민들의 의료 접근성과 편의성을 크게 향상시킬 것으로 기대된다.
병원선은 기존과 같은 내과, 치과, 한의과 진료실에서 물리치료실, 임상병리실, 방사선실, 보건교육실 등 다양한 의료시설이 추가로 신설됐다.
또한, 골밀도 검사기와 생화학 분석기 등 최신 의료 장비를 갖추고 공보의 3명과 간호사, 임상병리사, 물리치료사, 방사선사 등 전문인력이 승선해 분야별로 전문화된 의료서비스를 제공할 수 있게 됐다.
