박 의원은 지난 7월 2일, 로이스덕영치과병원과 강동노인복지관을 비롯한 동구 관내 3개 노인복지관의 상호 협력을 이끄는 업무협약(MOU)을 주선했다. 이번 협약은 복지 사각지대에 놓인 어르신들의 구강 건강을 실질적으로 지원하기 위한 민간 파트너십 구축으로, 지역사회에서의 의료 접근성 향상에 중요한 이정표가 될 전망이다.
협약에 따라 각 복지관에서는 10여 명씩 총 50여 명의 어르신을 대상으로 치과 진료와 치료를 지원할 예정이다. 경제적 이유로 치료를 미뤄왔던 취약계층 어르신들이 우선 대상이다.
박종봉 의원은 “동구에는 구강 건강에 문제가 있음에도 비용 부담으로 치료를 받지 못하는 어르신들이 많다”며, “이번 협약이 그 분들의 건강권을 보장하고, 삶의 질을 높이는 출발점이 되길 바란다”고 말했다. 그는 또 “앞으로도 지역사회 복지 사각지대 해소를 위해 민·관이 함께하는 실효성 있는 협력 모델을 지속 발굴하겠다”고 밝혔다.
협약에 참여한 노인복지관과 병원 측도 이번 협약이 일회성 지원에 그치지 않고, 지역 내 다양한 공헌 활동으로 확대될 수 있도록 협력해 나가겠다는 입장을 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 단순한 진료 지원을 넘어, 지역 공동체가 힘을 모아 어르신 삶의 질 개선에 나선 의미 있는 사례로 평가받고 있다.
