충청남도교육청(교육감 김지철)이 오는 8월 8일까지 도내 직업계고 21개교를 대상으로 ‘전공심화동아리 간담회’를 순차적으로 개최한다.
이번 일정은 9월에 열리는 ‘2025 광주광역시 제60회 전국기능경기대회’ 출전을 앞둔 학생선수들을 직접 만나 실습 여건을 점검하고, 대회 준비 상황을 격려하기 위한 자리다.
김지철 교육감은 22일 공주마이스터고를 시작으로 현장 방문에 나섰다. 이날 간담회에서 김 교육감은 메카트로닉스를 비롯한 5개 종목에 참가하는 17명의 학생들과 만나 “전국무대에 나서는 기회를 통해 도전정신을 기르고, 스스로의 성장을 체감하는 값진 시간이 되길 바란다”며 격려의 메시지를 전했다. 아울러 “훈련과정 전반에서 실습실 내 안전사고가 발생하지 않도록 학교와 지도교사의 각별한 관심이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
충남교육청은 직업계고 전공심화동아리를 중심으로 기능 중심의 전문 인재 양성에 힘써왔다. 특히 지난해 경북에서 열린 제59회 전국기능경기대회에서는 전국 5위라는 성적을 거두며, 도내 직업교육의 경쟁력을 입증했다. 올해는 전년도 성과를 발판삼아 전국 상위권 입상을 목표로 기술교육과 현장지도를 한층 강화한 상태다.
‘2025 전국기능경기대회’는 오는 9월 20일부터 26일까지 7일간 광주 김대중컨벤션센터 등 6개 경기장에서 열린다. 충남에서는 21개교 총 102명의 학생이 36개 직종에 출전할 예정이며, 이는 전국 시·도교육청 중에서도 높은 규모에 해당한다.
