세종시교육청, 학생 주도형 ‘2025 학생 스스로캠프’ 운영

세종특별자치시교육청 학교지원본부(본부장 이미자) 산하 학생해양수련원이 주관하는 ‘2025 학생 스스로캠프’가 이달 21일부터 제주도에서 본격 운영에 들어갔다. 

올해 캠프는 중·고등학생들이 교육과정과 제주 지역의 자원을 연계해 자율적으로 기획한 탐구 주제를 바탕으로 현장체험활동을 수행하는 방식으로 진행된다.

이번 프로그램은 세종시 관내 중·고등학교를 대상으로 공모를 진행해 최종 8개 팀(중학교 4팀, 고등학교 4팀)을 선발했다. 각 팀은 교과와 연계된 창의적 주제를 직접 설계해 3박 4일 일정 동안 제주 현지에서 탐구 프로젝트를 수행하게 된다.

중학생 팀은 두루중 ‘제주 인문학과 예술의 만남’, 새롬중 ‘제주 역사 인물 구글맵 제작’, 한솔중-반곡중 연합 ‘영어 그래픽 노블로 제주 명소 표현’, 한솔중 ‘제주 4·3 사건의 문학적 재현을 통한 화해 탐구’ 등 인문·사회·예술을 융합한 주제들이 주를 이뤘다.

고등학생 팀은 세종고 ‘빅데이터 기반 외국인 거주 분석과 다문화 정책 제안’, 세종여고 ‘지구과학 요소 탐구 및 제주 내 신재생에너지 가능성 탐구’, 한솔고 ‘재생에너지 잉여 전력의 활용 방안’ 등 현실 문제 해결과 과학적 접근을 결합한 주제를 중심으로 제주 지역을 탐색한다.

세종시교육청은 참여 학생들의 원활한 활동을 위해 각 팀당 150만 원의 활동비를 지원하고 항공권과 숙소, 현지 교통수단을 일괄 제공함으로써 학교의 행정 부담을 최소화했다. 또한 학생해양수련원 전담 인력이 전 일정에 동행해 안전관리와 운영 전반을 지원하며, 학생들이 집중력 있게 활동에 임할 수 있도록 체계를 갖췄다.

이번 캠프의 핵심은 단순한 현장학습을 넘어, 학생 스스로 주제를 선정하고 계획을 수립하는 전 과정을 주도한다는 점이다. 교육청은 이를 통해 학생들의 창의성과 자기주도적 학습능력을 동시에 키우는 계기가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

이미자 학교지원본부장은 “학생들이 스스로 탐구 주제를 선정하고 직접 캠프를 기획하는 경험은 창의성과 자기주도성을 기르는 데 매우 유의미하다”며 “앞으로도 세종 학생들이 교육과정과 연계한 체험 중심의 프로그램을 통해 미래 사회를 이끌 역량을 키울 수 있도록 다양한 기회를 제공하겠다”고 말했다.
