(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 23일, 7월 중순부터 8월 말까지 ‘인천하늘수 dream 냉장고’를 5개 구 78개소에서 8개 구 100개소로 확대 운영한다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 시의 이번 조치는 전국적으로 7월 초부터 이어진 폭염에 따른 온열질환 증가에 대응하기 위함이다.
최근 인천지역 낮 최고기온이 33도 이상을 기록하며 폭염특보가 연일 발효되고 있다.
이에 따라 특히 야외에서 장시간 일하는 노동자와 폭염에 취약한 시민들의 건강 보호가 시급해졌다.
‘인천하늘수 dream 냉장고’ 는 행정복지센터, 공원 내 쉼터, 생활물류노동자 거점 등 시민이 자주 찾는 장소에 설치되어 있으며, 누구나 무료로 시원한 생수를 마실 수 있다.

이번 사업을 위해 인천시 상수도사업본부 남동정수사업소는 시 수돗물 브랜드 ‘인천하늘수’ 생수 97,300병을 무상으로 공급했으며, 각 시설에는 냉장고 임차 및 관리 체계를 갖춰 운영을 시작했다.
기존 중구, 동구, 미추홀구, 남동구, 서구 5개 구에서만 운영하던 생수냉장고를 연수구, 부평구, 계양구 등 3개 구까지 확대했다.
또한 행정복지센터, 야외 무더위 쉼터, 플랫폼·생활물류노동자 쉼터 등 다양한 장소에 설치되어 총 100개소에서 운영된다.
해당 장소를 지나는 폭염 취약계층 시민과 야외에서 근무 중인 노동자는 누구나 무료로 시원한 생수 한 병을 마실 수 있는 열린 공간으로 운영된다.
