(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 지난 7월 23일부터 24일까지 경상북도 안동에서 열린 교육부 주관 ‘2025년 제3차 중앙투자심사’에서 가칭 검삼고는 적정 승인을 계양1초, 영종하늘2초, 용현학익중은 조건부 승인을 받았다고 밝혔다.
인천시교육청에 따르면, 이번 4개 학교 설립은 대규모 공동주택 입주로 인한 학생 유입 증가와 기존 학교의 과밀 학급 해소를 위한 조치다.
또한 기존에 조건부 승인됐던 (가칭) 계양학교(특수)와 용현학익2초의 개교 적정성을 인정받아 해당 지역의 교육 기반 구축이 한층 속도를 낼 전망이다.
계양1초는 계양테크노밸리 내 44학급 규모로 2029년 3월 개교 예정이며, 계양신도시 내 첫 초등학교로 교육 기반 마련에 기여할 전망이다.
계양학교(특수)는 이번 심사에서 조건 이행을 완료해 본격 개교가 가능해졌다.
영종하늘2초는 중구 운남동에 42학급 규모로 신설되며, 4,900세대 규모의 공동개발에 따른 초등학생 유입에 대비한 것이다.
인천시교육청은 지역 주민과의 협의를 거쳐 학교 위치와 배치 방안을 조율해 왔으며, 이를 통해 안정적인 교육여건이 마련될 것으로 기대한다.
용현학익중은 미추홀구 도시개발지구 내 20년 만에 신설되는 중학교로, 31학급 규모로 2029년 3월 개교 예정이다.
기존 조건부 승인을 받았던 용현학익2초도 개교 추진이 가능해졌으며, 이로써 용현·학익지구에는 유치원 1곳, 초등학교 2곳, 중학교 1곳이 갖춰지게 된다.
검삼고는 서구 검단3구역에 31학급 규모로 2029년 3월 개교 예정이며, 12,000세대 입주에 따른 고등학생 유입을 수용할 예정이다.
인천시교육청 관계자는 “이번 신설은 학생들이 안전하고 쾌적한 환경에서 학습할 수 있도록 하기 위한 조치”라며 “앞으로도 지역 개발에 따른 교육 수요를 면밀히 분석해 균형 있는 교육 기반을 마련하겠다”고 말했다.
