충남 논산·계룡, 공주, 금산 지역의 교육 주체들이 한자리에 모여 마을교육공동체의 지속가능한 발전 방향을 모색하는 자리가 마련됐다.
‘2025 충남마을교육공동체 5권역 포럼’이 지난 24일 논산시 광석초등학교 강당에서 열려 지역 주민, 교사, 교육청 관계자 등 약 90여 명이 참여한 가운데 지역별 의제 발표와 심도 깊은 논의가 이어졌다.
이번 포럼은 충남도교육청이 주관하고 각 시·군 교육지원청과 마을교육 주체들이 공동으로 기획한 자리로, 지역별 교육 현안을 중심으로 마을과 학교의 협력 구조를 재조명하고 새로운 정책 대안을 발굴하는 데 중점을 뒀다.
논산계룡지역은 ‘행복교육지구 3기 정책 제안’을 주제로 지역 현장 기반의 교육 행정 혁신 방안을 발표했다. 공주시는 마을이 교육의 주체가 되는 생태계 구축 전략을, 금산군은 시·군 간 교육협력 모델과 네트워크 활성화 방안을 각각 제안하며 지역 간 연대의 필요성을 강조했다.
박양훈 논산계룡교육지원청 교육장은 “마을교육공동체는 아이들이 학교를 넘어서 더 넓은 사회와 세계를 경험하고 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 중요한 교육 생태계”라며, “논산·계룡 지역 내 280여 개 초등 학급이 마을과 연계된 교육과정을 운영 중이며, 이 같은 성과를 바탕으로 지역 맞춤형 모델을 정착시켜 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
참석자들은 각 지역의 사례를 공유하며, 마을과 학교, 교육청이 수평적 파트너십을 바탕으로 아이들의 배움터를 공동으로 책임지는 구조를 만들어가야 한다는 데 의견을 모았다. 특히 마을의 자원을 교육 자산으로 전환하고, 지역 간 소통과 연계를 통해 교육 격차를 해소할 필요성이 제기됐다.
이날 포럼은 단순한 담론에 그치지 않고, 교육 당사자들의 삶과 경험에 기반한 실천 전략을 중심으로 구성됐다는 점에서 그 의미가 크다.
충남도교육청 관계자는 “마을교육공동체는 단발성 사업이 아닌 지역 교육의 근본을 바꾸는 장기 프로젝트”라며, “교육청은 지역의 다양성과 자율성을 존중하며 각 권역의 교육모델이 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 행정적, 정책적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
