【브레이크뉴스 구미】진예솔 기자=구미도시공사(사장 이재웅)가 구미시의 ‘장애 없는(Barrier-Free) 도시 인프라 조성’ 정책에 맞춰 이동약자의 생활 편의를 높이는 ‘맞춤형 경사로 지원 사업 시즌2’를 본격 추진한다.
시민 누구나 안전하고 자유롭게 이동할 수 있는 환경을 만드는 데 속도를 내겠다는 계획이다.
공사는 지난 13일 구미시사회공헌지원센터, 경상북도지체장애인협회 구미시지회와 업무협약을 체결하고 5백만 원의 기부금을 전달했다. 이번 협약을 통해 경사로 설치가 시급한 시설을 선정하고 지원 범위를 넓힌다.
지난해 진행된 시즌1에서는 이동약자가 자주 찾는 식당 5곳에 맞춤형 경사로를 설치했다. 문턱이 2cm 정도로 낮더라도 휠체어 이용자에게는 큰 장벽이 될 수 있어, 설치 이후 접근성이 크게 개선됐다는 평가를 받았다.
올해 시즌2에서는 경사로가 없는 건물 가운데 이용 빈도가 높은 상가, 음식점, 카페 등을 우선 대상으로 삼는다. 대상지 선정은 경북지체장애인협회 구미시지회가 맡아 실질적인 필요를 반영한다.
이재웅 사장은 “시즌1에서 시민들의 긍정적인 반응과 변화를 확인했다”며 “올해는 더 많은 생활공간을 무장애 환경으로 바꿔 나가겠다. 앞으로도 지역사회를 위한 사회공헌 활동을 지속하겠다”고 밝혔다.

CEO Lee Jae-woong stated, "We witnessed positive responses and changes from citizens in Season 1. This year, we will transform even more living spaces into barrier-free environments. We will continue our social contribution activities for the local community."
