인천시에 따르면, 이번 연구는 인천 고유의 도시 구조와 시민 생활 패턴을 반영해, 도보 또는 대중교통으로 ‘i분’ 안에 주요 생활 편의시설을 이용할 수 있는 맞춤형 생활권 모형을 설계하는 것이 핵심이다.
이번 ‘DUT(Driving Urban Transitions) 프로젝트’는 유럽연합(EU)의 대규모 연구혁신 프로그램인 ‘호라이즌 유럽(Horizon Europe)’ 의 도시혁신 파트너십(Driving Urban Transitions Partnership) 과제로 국토교통부와 국토교통과학기술진흥원이 지원하는 ‘협력거점형 국토교통 국제협력 연구개발사업’의 일환으로 추진된다.
인천시는 지방자치단체로서 서울대학교, 인천대학교, 한국조지메이슨대학교, 현대자동차, 사이트플래닝 등과 함께 연구에 참여한다.
