【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구시와 엑스코가 어제 대구 군위군 사유원에서 '2025 대구 MICE 대사 위촉식'을 열고 국제회의 분야 주요 인사 15명을 '대구 마이스 대사'로 위촉했다.
이번 위촉은 대구의 국제회의 유치 역량을 강화하고 글로벌 전시와 컨벤션 도시로서의 위상을 높이기 위해 마련됐다.
마이스는 기업회의, 포상관광, 컨벤션, 전시와 이벤트를 뜻하는 말이다.
이번에 위촉된 인사에는 2028 세계여과총회 유치에 기여한 추광호 경북대학교 교수, 2026 세계신경재활학회 조직위원장인 백남종 분당서울대학교병원 교수, 2026 국제가상현실컨퍼런스 조직위원장인 김정현 고려대학교 교수 등이 포함되어 있다. 이들은 향후 대구의 국제행사 유치 활동과 개최에 적극 참여할 예정이다.
한편 엑스코는 지난해 대구시 국제회의 전담기구로 활동을 시작하여 행사 유치부터 개최까지 원스톱 지원 체계를 구축해오고 있다. 엑스코 동관 회의실 추가를 통해 국제행사 수용 능력도 강화한다.
또한 전시장 인근에는 2030년 도시철도 4호선, 2035년 5호선 개통을 앞두고 있어 접근성이 크게 개선될 예정이다.
전춘우 엑스코 대표이사는 "앞으로 대구 마이스 대사들과 긴밀히 협력해 대구가 글로벌 전시와 컨벤션 허브 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

Daegu City and EXCO held the "2025 Daegu MICE Ambassador Appointment Ceremony" yesterday at Sayuwon in Gunwi County, Daegu, and appointed 15 key figures in the international conference industry as "Daegu MICE Ambassadors."

The newly appointed individuals include Professor Chu Kwang-ho of Kyungpook National University, who contributed to the bid for the 2028 World Congress on Filtration; Professor Baek Nam-jong of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2026 World Congress of Neurorehabilitation; and Professor Kim Jeong-hyun of Korea University, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2026 International Virtual Reality Conference. They plan to actively participate in Daegu's efforts to attract and host international events.
Meanwhile, EXCO, which began its activities last year as the city's dedicated international conference organization, has been establishing a one-stop support system from event hosting to hosting. The addition of conference rooms to EXCO's East Wing will also enhance its capacity for international events.
Furthermore, accessibility is expected to significantly improve with the upcoming opening of Metro Line 4 in 2030 and Line 5 in 2035 near the exhibition center.
EXCO CEO Jeon Chun-woo stated, "We will work closely with Daegu's MICE ambassadors to ensure Daegu's advancement as a global exhibition and convention hub."
