김도현 안양시의원, “공공도서관 리박스쿨 도서 전면 퇴출”

안양시 공공도서관에서 극우사관 논란을 빚은 ‘리박스쿨’ 관련 도서들이 전면 퇴출됐다.

김도현 안양시의원(더불어민주당, 안양사)은 지난 8월 26일 “시립도서관 운영위원회 임시회의 의결에 따라 리박스쿨 교재 및 관련 인사 저서에 대한 열람·대출이 중단됐다”며, “뉴라이트 극우사관과 식민사관에 기생하는 역사왜곡 도서들에 대한 실질적 퇴출이 이뤄진 것”이라고 밝혔다.

김도현 의원은 지난 2개월간 해당 도서의 목록, 내용, 구입 경위와 대출 내역 등을 검토한 뒤 운영위원회에 심의를 요청했다. 그는 “사회적 논란이 있는 도서에 대한 사후처리 기준이 모호해 법정기구인 운영위원회에서 정식으로 판단을 구했다”고 설명했다.

김도현 의원은 지난해 ‘안양시 일본 제국주의 상징물의 공공사용 금지 조례’를  대표 발의, 조례를 제정함으로써 이번 결정을 이끌어냈다. 이 조례는 위안부 등 강제동원 피해자의 명예를 훼손하는 행위를 금지하고, 일제 잔재 청산 노력을 위해 노력해야 한다는 내용이 담겼다.

김도현 의원은 “헌법이 보장하는 출판의 자유는 타인의 명예나 권리를 침해하지 않는 범위 내에서 행사돼야 한다”며, “리박스쿨 도서는 강제동원 피해자의 명예를 훼손하고 사회 윤리를 침해하고 있어 퇴출이 불가피하다”고 강조했다.

Anyang City Council Member Kim Do-hyun: "Re-Back School Books to Be Removed from Public Libraries"

Books related to the "Re-Back School" controversy surrounding its far-right historical perspective have been removed from Anyang City's public libraries.

On August 26th, Anyang City Council Member Kim Do-hyun (Democratic Party of Korea, Anyang Branch) announced, "Following a resolution at the extraordinary meeting of the City Library Steering Committee, access and borrowing of Re-Back School textbooks and books by related individuals have been suspended." He added, "This effectively removes historically distorted books that feed on the New Right's far-right and colonial perspectives."

Council Member Kim Do-hyun reviewed the list of books in question, their content, purchase history, and borrowing history over the past two months and requested the Steering Committee's deliberation. He explained, "Because the standards for post-discussion of books with social controversies are ambiguous, I formally sought the decision of the Steering Committee, a statutory body." This decision was reportedly influenced by the Anyang City Ordinance Prohibiting the Public Use of Symbols of Japanese Imperialism, proposed last year by Representative Kim Do-hyun. This ordinance prohibits acts that defame victims of forced labor, including comfort women, and stipulates that efforts must be made to eradicate the remnants of Japanese imperialism.

Representative Kim Do-hyun stated, "The freedom of publication guaranteed by the Constitution must be exercised within the scope of not infringing upon the reputation or rights of others," emphasizing, "Rebox School's books defame victims of forced labor and violate social ethics, making their removal inevitable."
