파루비가 피격 당한 원인에 대해서는 몇 가지 설로 나뉜다. 가장 유력한 것이 러시아의 FSB가 배후에 있다는 설이다. 이는 파루비 의원의 정치적 성향과 그의 혐러 행적 때문으로 보여 진다. 그는 친(親) 러시아 정권을 붕괴시키게 한 2004년 오렌지 시위에 적극적으로 참여하고, 2014년 유로마이단에서는 주도적으로 친러 축출을 담당한 우크라이나 민족주의 성향을 지닌 정치인이기 때문이다. 그는 유로마이단이 성공하고 야누코비치 대통령을 축출한 이후 포로셴코 대통령 직속 국가안보국방위원회에서 서기를 거쳐 2016∼2019년 최고라다 의장을 지냈다.

Тому ніхто в Україні більше не почувається в безпеці)."고 입장을 밝히기도 했다. 3년 6개월 동안 벌어지고 있는 장기전 기간에 어쩔 수 없이 조장되기 마련인 좌-우 이념 대립, 혹은 친(親) 정부 및 반(反) 정부 간의 극단적인 정치적 대립과 정치적 폭력에서 원인을 찾아 보자는 견해도 적지 않게 나타나고 있다.

The Assassination of Former Ukrainian Supreme Rada Chairman Andrei Paruby (Part 2)

There are several theories regarding the cause of Paruby's assassination. The most plausible theory is that Russia's FSB was behind the attack. He is a Ukrainian nationalist politician who actively participated in the 2004 Orange Protests, which led to the collapse of the pro-Russian regime, and played a leading role in the ouster of pro-Russian figures during the 2014 Euromaidan protests. After the success of Euromaidan and the ouster of President Yanukovych, he served as secretary of President Poroshenko's National Security and Defense Council and then as Chairman of the Supreme Rada from 2016 to 2019.

In mid-July 2024, Irina Parion, a former member of parliament with far-right nationalist leanings, was shot and killed by unknown assailants in Lviv. The man accused of her assassination was Vyacheslav Zinchenko. The investigation revealed that he had been gathering intelligence on radical politicians, including Dnieper Mayor Boris Filatov, for the purpose of carrying out terrorist attacks against them. However, Zinchenko was also suspected of being behind the attack, but Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) was found to have no ties to the FSB, and his contacts with Russia were unsubstantiated, dispelling the FSB-linked theory.
