의왕시의회 한채훈 의원이 파크골프장 조성 지연 문제를 지적하며 시 차원의 중장기 로드맵 수립을 촉구하고 나섰다.
한 의원은 지난 9월 10일 열린 의왕시 체육청소년과 소관 추경예산안 심의 과정에서 “주민 반대로 번번이 무산된 파크골프장 조성 문제를 시가 보다 적극적인 자세로 풀어가야 한다”고 대안을 제시했다.
한채훈 의원은 “민선7기 당시 계획대로 추진했더라면 사태가 이렇게 장기화되지는 않았을 것”이라며 “민선8기 현 시장이 주민 반대를 이유로 조성을 하루아침에 취소하면서 입지 선정이 늦어지고 결국 사업이 지연돼 왔다”고 지적했다.
이어 △시 소유 부지 검토, △필요 시 토지 매입 등 타당성 용역 추진, △3기 신도시 및 신규 공공주택지구 내 부지 활용 여부 검토 등 세 가지 대안을 제안하며 “18홀 파크골프장 조성을 위한 단계적 로드맵을 마련해야 한다”고 강조했다.
또한 그는 “의왕시 장애인 체육인을 비롯해 어르신들이 파크골프 대회에서 우수한 성적을 거두고 있다”며, “누구나 안전하게 즐길 수 있는 생활체육 인프라를 위해 파크골프장 조성은 반드시 필요하다”고 덧붙였다.
한편 한채훈 의원은 금천천 일대에 11일 개장된 파크골프장과 관련해 “조성 과정에 힘써 준 공직자들에게 감사의 뜻을 전한다”고 말했다.
