이재명 정권이 한미 관세협상 타결에 따른 관세 인하 등을 발표했으나 자꾸만 엄습하는 불안을 떨치기 어렵다. 우선 양국 상호간 문서로 작성된 공동합의문이 없다. 실제로 언제부터 어떤 품목이 어떻게 적용될지 등 세부적인 사항이 명확히 공개되지 않았다.
협상 이후 양국 설명도 크게 엇갈린다. 트럼프 대통령이 요구한 대미투자 명목의 3,500억 달러를 놓고서도 미국은 전액 선불을 되풀이했다. 심지어 그와는 별도로 한국 기업들이 6,000억 달러를 추가 투자하는 것을 포함해 총 9,500억 달러로 도리어 늘어났다.
이는 1년에 200억 달러 한도에서 향후 10년 동안 총 2,000억 달러를 투자하기로 했다는 이재명 정권 발표와는 너무 큰 괴리가 있다. 더욱이 민주당이 한미 관세협상에 대한 국회 비준이 아닌 특별법 제정 운운하고 있어서 국민적 우려와 의혹이 더욱 증폭된다.
한국으로서는 대미 대규모 투자에 따른 산업 생태계와 금융 등에서 매우 큰 부담이다. 한국산 자동차 관세가 15%로 타결된 듯싶으나 "반도체는 대만보다 불리하지 않게 하기로 했다"는 이재명 정권 발표와는 달리, 미국은 "협상에 포함되지 않았다"고 밝혔다.
농산물 추가개방에 대해서도 양국 발표가 정반대다. 이재명 정권은 쌀과 소고기 등 농산물 추가 개방은 없다고 밝혔으나, 미국은 전면 개방을 기정사실로 여긴다. 양국이 서로 극명한 차이를 보이는 셈이다. 그 때문에 국민적 불신과 불안이 겹치는 것이다.
도대체 무슨 일이 벌어지고 있는 것일까? 국가의 주인되는 국민과, 국정 견제 책무가 있는 야권에게 숨겨야 하는 그 무엇이라도 있는 것일까? 이제라도 이재명 정권은 관련 내용을 국민 앞에 공개하고, 국익을 지키는 일에 총력 대응할 수 있기를 강권한다.

Moreover, the Democratic Party's insistence on enacting a special law rather than ratifying the Korea-US tariff negotiations further exacerbates public concerns and suspicions.
For Korea, large-scale investment in the US poses a significant burden on its industrial ecosystem and finances. While the 15% tariff on Korean automobiles appears to have been reached, the US has stated that "semiconductors will not be disadvantaged compared to Taiwan," contrary to the Lee Jae-myung administration's announcement that it "agreed to be not included in the negotiations."
The two countries' announcements regarding additional agricultural market liberalization are also diametrically opposed. The Lee Jae-myung administration has stated that there will be no additional liberalization of agricultural products such as rice and beef, while the US considers full liberalization a fait accompli. This represents a stark contrast between the two countries' perspectives. This is fueling public distrust and anxiety.
What exactly is happening? Is there something they need to hide from the people, the sovereigns of the country, and the opposition, which has the responsibility to keep state affairs in check? We strongly urge the Lee Jae-myung administration to disclose the relevant information to the public and fully commit to protecting national interests.
