남구는 보건복지부와 한국건강증진개발원이 공동 주관한 ‘2025년 지역사회 비만예방관리사업’ 평가에서 우수기관으로 이름을 올렸다.
이번 평가는 전국 시·도와 시·군·구 보건소를 대상으로 비만 예방 정책의 실효성과 확산 가능성을 중점적으로 살폈다.
특히 남구보건소는 생애주기별 맞춤형 비만예방 프로그램을 체계적으로 운영하고, 지역사회와의 연계를 강화한 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.
직장인을 위한 ‘사업장 걷기 챌린지’를 비롯해, 생활권 중심의 건강증진 활동을 꾸준히 확대하면서 주민 참여 기반을 넓힌 점이 주효했다.
중년층 대상 ‘건강몸매 만들기’ 프로그램과 직장인을 위해 마련된 ‘야간 운동교실’ 등 일상 속에서 신체활동을 실천할 수 있도록 한 다양한 프로그램도 대표적인 사례로 꼽힌다.
아동·청소년 비만 예방에도 행정력을 집중했다. 남구는 초등학생을 위한 ‘건강한 돌봄놀이터 사업’과 취약계층 아동을 대상으로 한 ‘아이돌 건강짱 프로그램’을 꾸준히 운영하며, 성장기 건강관리와 올바른 식습관 형성에 기여하고 있다.
조재구 남구청장은 “최근 비만 인구가 증가하면서 연령별 맞춤형 예방 정책의 중요성이 더욱 커지고 있다”며 “앞으로도 주민들의 눈높이에 맞는 비만 예방 프로그램과 건강 캠페인을 지속적으로 확대해 건강한 남구를 만들어가겠다”고 강조했다.
