의왕시의회(의장 김학기)는 지난 12월 10일 시의회 중회의실에서 ‘의왕시 진로교육 혁신을 위한 정책토론회’를 열고, AI 시대에 대응하는 진로교육 체계 전환 방안을 논의했다.
이번 토론회는 학생과 학부모, 진로교육 전문가, 시의원 등이 참여한 가운데, 의왕시를 미래성장 진로특구로 발전시키기 위한 정책 방향을 모색하기 위해 한채훈 의원의 제안으로 마련됐다.
발제를 맡은 김승보 진로숲재단 대표는 “AI 시대의 진로교육은 단순 체험 중심에서 벗어나 문제 해결 능력과 융합적 사고, 창의성을 키우는 구조로 전환돼야 한다”고 강조했다. 이어 지역 전체를 교육 플랫폼으로 확장하는 미래성장 진로특구 모델을 제시하며, 학생의 성장 경로를 체계적으로 설계·지원하는 ‘진로센터 2.0’ 구축과 상근 진로코디네이터 배치, 진로시민강사 인증제 도입 등을 제안했다.
토론자로 나선 윤여원 의왕시진로지원센터장은 센터의 3개년 운영 성과를 공유하며, 학생 만족도 증가를 주요 성과로 꼽았다. 또한 AI 기반 프로그램 ‘모두의 트렌드(with AI)’, 초등 진로 프로그램 ‘상상나래’, 지역 간 청년멘토단 교류 등을 통해 AI·신산업 중심의 진로 정보 제공을 확대하고 있다고 설명했다.

학부모 의견도 제시됐다. 의왕시진로지원센터 학부모지원단으로 활동 중인 임성은 씨는 “의왕시 진로교육은 체계적이지만, 교외 직업 현장 체험 확대와 학교 간 격차 해소가 필요하다”고 말했다.
학생 대표로 참석한 조민균 의왕시청소년참여위원회 위원장(모락중 3학년)은 “일회성 체험을 넘어 심화된 탐구 기회가 필요하다”며 “진로와 진학이 자연스럽게 연결되는 구조가 마련되면 학생들의 선택 폭이 넓어질 것”이라고 밝혔다.
김정삼 유스바람개비 대표는 진로교육 도약을 위한 정책 과제로 ▲진로·진학·평생학습 통합 플랫폼 구축 ▲지역 기반 진로강사 양성 ▲기업가정신 프로젝트 확대 ▲지자체·교육청·학교 간 협력 거버넌스 구축을 제안하며, AI 기반 맞춤형 진로지원체계의 필요성을 강조했다.
이번 토론회의 좌장을 맡은 한채훈 의원은 “AI 기술이 청소년 진로교육에 실질적으로 접목될 수 있음을 확인한 자리였다”며 “의왕시가 미래성장 진로특구로 도약할 수 있도록 의회 차원의 정책적 노력을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
한편 한채훈 의원은 토론회 영상 방청 시민의 의견을 전하며 “시의회가 정책 공론의 장으로 시민들에게 더욱 유익한 역할을 할 수 있도록 의정활동에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

On December 10th, the Uiwang City Council (Chairperson Kim Hak-gi) held a "Policy Forum on Uiwang City Career Education Innovation" in the City Council's conference room to discuss ways to transform the career education system in response to the AI era.
This forum, attended by students, parents, career education experts, and city council members, was organized at the suggestion of Councilor Han Chae-hoon to explore policy directions for developing Uiwang City into a future growth career special zone.

Yoon Yeo-won, Director of the Uiwang City Career Support Center, who participated as a panelist, shared the center's three-year operational performance and cited increased student satisfaction as a key achievement. He also explained that the center is expanding its access to AI- and new industry-focused career information through initiatives such as the AI-based program "Everyone's Trend (with AI)"; the elementary school career program "Imagination Narae,"; and the exchange of youth mentors between regions.
Parents' opinions were also shared. Lim Seong-eun, a member of the Uiwang City Career Support Center's parent support team, stated, "While Uiwang City's career education is systematic, it needs to expand off-campus job experience and bridge the gap between schools." Cho Min-gyun, chair of the Uiwang City Youth Participation Committee (3rd year at Morak Middle School), who attended as a student representative, stated, "We need opportunities for in-depth exploration beyond one-time experiences. If a structure is established that naturally connects career paths and academic advancement, students will have a wider range of choices."
Kim Jeong-sam, CEO of Youth Pinwheel, proposed the following policy initiatives for advancing career education: ▲Establishing an integrated platform for career paths, academic advancement, and lifelong learning; ▲Cultivating community-based career instructors; ▲Expanding entrepreneurship projects; and ▲Establishing collaborative governance among local governments, education offices, and schools. He emphasized the need for an AI-based, customized career support system.
Councilman Han Chae-hoon, who moderated the discussion, stated, "This event confirmed the practical application of AI technology in youth career education. We will continue our council-level policy efforts to help Uiwang City leap forward as a future growth career special zone." Meanwhile, Rep. Han Chae-hoon relayed the opinions of citizens who watched the debate video and said, “I will do my best in my legislative activities so that the city council can play a more beneficial role for citizens as a forum for public policy discussion.”
