국민의힘 대표 장동혁이 단식투쟁 중이다. 지난 1월17일, 국회로 그를 찾아 격려했다. 단식 4일째라 초췌하지만, 그의 눈은 투쟁의지로 빛나고 있었다. 1983년은 전두환의 신군부독재로 민주주의가 질식상태 였다. 야권 지도자 김영삼은 구속인사 석방 등을 내걸고 목숨을 건 단식투쟁에 들어갔다. 연금 중인 집에서 벌이는 외로운 투쟁이었다. 그가 단식 끝에 사망할까 두려운 전두환은 그를 서울대병원에 강제입원 시켰다. 그러나 그는 단식을 계속했다. 김수환추기경 등의 만류로 23일 만에 단식을 끝냈다.

그러므로 장동혁은 김영삼보다 더 결연한 자세로 투쟁해야 한다. 민주공화정의 대한민국이 사느냐 죽느냐의 갈림길에 서 있기 때문이다. 그렇다! 우리와 우리 후대의 생사가 걸린 싸움이다. 장동혁은 그 소명을 숙명으로 받들고 사즉생의 각오로 투쟁해야 한다.

민주당은 온갖 야유와 조롱으로 대응한다. 이는 장동혁의 투쟁이 정당하고 두렵다는 반증이다. 자유보수우파의 가치를 신봉하는 사람들은 일어서서 그의 투쟁에 박수를 보내자. 특히 국힘 내부는 체제전쟁의 승리를 위해 한목소리를 내야 한다. 분열상은 어리석은 패배주의일 뿐이다. 지금 침묵하고 있는 국민들에게 이재명독재의 위험성을 일깨우고 진정한 민주공화정의 길로 갈수 있는 영감을 불어넣어야 한다. 이재명 독재는 문재인 폭정의 시즌 2다. 기간을 합하면 6년이다. 장동혁은 7년을 넘기지 않고 국민의 저항에너지를 끌어올려 체제전쟁에서 승리를 이끌어내야 한다. 목숨을 걸고 시대의 소명을 받드는 지도자가 있을 때, 국민은 희망 속에 번영을 누릴 수 있다.
