백동흠 대전경찰청장이 22일 대전의 관문인 대전역을 찾아 시민 안전 확보를 위한 현장 점검을 실시했다.
봄철 주말을 맞아 이용객이 급증하는 시기에 맞춰 대전역의 안전관리 실태와 현장 대응 체계를 직접 확인하기 위해서다.
대전역은 하루 평균 5만 명 이상이 이용하는 대표적인 다중이용시설이다.
백 청장은 이날 대합실과 승강장 등 주요 시설을 구석구석 살피며 코레일 관계자들과 긴밀한 협력 체계를 점검했다.
특히 다중운집에 따른 안전사고 예방은 물론, 범죄와 테러 대응 태세를 강화하고 소방·대피 시설에 사각지대가 없는지 집중적으로 확인했다.
이어 백 청장은 주말 동안 예고된 대전역 인근 집회 예정지로 자리를 옮겼다.
이날 현장에서는 퀴어문화축제와 이를 반대하는 단체의 집회가 동시에 열릴 것으로 예상돼 물리적 충돌 우려된다는 의견이 제기됐다.
백 청장은 집회의 자유는 최대한 보장하되, 행진 구간의 우회로 확보 등 교통 관리로 시민들의 불편을 최소화해야 한다고 지시했다.
다만 경찰은 찬반 단체 간의 폭력 행위나 도로 무단 점거 등 명백한 불법 행위에 대해서는 법과 원칙에 따라 엄정하게 대처한다는 방침이다.
