브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 쿠팡이 환경부, 서울시, 한국자동차환경협회와 업무협약(MOU)을 체결하고, 친환경 배송생태계 조성을 위해 적극적인 노력에 나선다.
‘친환경 배송생태계 조성 시범사업’은 유통물류 배송환경에 적합한 전기차 충전솔루션이 충분하지 않아 친환경 화물자동차 도입에 어려움을 겪는 상황을 해소하기 위해 추진된다.
쿠팡은 업무협약의 일환으로 유통물류 분야 전기화물차 도입 확대를 위한 다양한 과제에 동참할 예정이다. 특히, 쿠팡 배송센터인 캠프 내에서 전기화물차 충전 인프라 구축을 위한 환경부 무선충전 시범사업에 참여하고, 충전솔루션 개발에 앞장서 유통물류 분야에 적합한 전기화물차 운영 시스템 구축을 위한 발판을 마련할 계획이다.
쿠팡은 친환경 배송을 실현하기 위해 다각도의 방안을 마련 중이다. 앞서 쿠팡은 전기화물차, 수소화물차, 전기이륜차 등을 실제 배송에 투입하는 등 친환경 배송 확대를 통한 대기오염물질 배출 감축을 위해 꾸준히 노력해왔다.
아울러 쿠팡은 수 년간 구축해온 대규모 물류인프라와 배송 동선 최적화를 위한 인공지능(AI) 기술로 에너지 소비량과 탄소배출량 감소를 실천하고 있다.
쿠팡의 로켓배송 상품 중 80% 이상은 골판지 상자 또는 기타 불필요한 포장 없이 배송되고 있으며, 신선식품 배송에 있어서는 자체 개발한 재사용 에코백 ‘프레시백’을 도입해 사용 중이다.
