브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 제너시스BBQ 그룹은 지난 23일 성남시 장애인종합복지관에 치킨 50마리를 전달했다고 24일 밝혔다.
이번 치킨릴레이는 코로나19 장기화로 기부가 줄어 어려움을 겪고 있는 지역 복지센터를 후원하기 위해 기획됐다.
이날 진행된 기부는 지난 16일 1차 전달에 이은 2차 전달로, 현재까지 누적 100마리의 치킨이 복지관을 이용하는 장애인들에게 전달됐다. BBQ는 오는 30일과 내달 7일 각각 50마리씩 추가 기부 예정으로, 총 4회차 동안 200마리를 후원할 계획이다.
BBQ 관계자는 “팬데믹은 끝나가지만 기존에 코로나19로 소외됐던 지자체 시설들의 상황은 아직 회복되지 않았음을 느꼈다”며 “점차 치킨릴레이를 확대해 전국적으로 도움이 필요한 곳에 후원을 할 계획이다”고 전했다.
한편, BBQ는 지난해 12월 사단법인 희망등대와의 ‘2022년 대한민국 꿈과 희망 프로젝트 BBQ치킨릴레이 사회공헌사업 MOU’를 체결하며, 올해 1월부터 52주간 매주 치킨릴레이를 진행중에 있다. 치킨릴레이를 통해 성남시에 위치한 지역아동센터 및 홀몸어르신돌봄센터 등 도움이 필요한 곳에 지속적으로 치킨을 후원해오고 있다.
