브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 주호영 국민의힘 비상대책위원장은 18일 "당의 갈등과 분열이 생긴 일, 갈등과 분열을 제대로 수습하지 못하고 법정까지 가게 된 일 등을 모두 국민과 당원들께 진심으로 사과하고 반성하고 있다는 말씀을 드린다"고 밝혔다.
주호영 위원장은 이날 오전 국회 본관에서 열린 비대위 출범 첫 회의에서 "생을 잘 챙겨서 유능한 집권당이라는 인식을 조기에 국민께 드리지 못하고 부적절한 언행으로 국민들 눈살을 찌푸리게 하고, 새 정부를 제대로 견인해 조기에 안착시키고 신뢰받도록 하는 데 소홀함이 있었다"며 이같이 말했다.
주 위원장은 "첫 회의에 모두 일어나 '우리가 잘못했고 잘하겠다'는 취지로 인사를 드리고 시작했으면 한다"고 제안하자, 9명의 비대위원 모두 일어나 허리를 숙여 사과했다.
이어 그는 "저희는 출발에 앞서 초심을 잃지 않겠다고 다짐한다"면서 "오로지 국민만 보고 국민 입장에서 생각하고 국민 입장에서 판단하고 국민 입장에서 실행하겠다"고 각오를 다졌다.

주 위원장은 또 "당이 어려운 상황에서 당을 조기에 안정시키고 국민 신뢰를 회복하기 위한 어려운 일에 동참해주신 비대위원님께 진심으로 감사드린다"면서 "성공적으로 이끌어서 다시 국민들로부터 신뢰를 회복하고 제대로 된 지도부가 조기에 안착하도록 최선을 다하자"고 독려했다.
주 위원장은 회의 직후 기자들과 만난 자리에선 "비대위는 당을 조기에 안정시키고 국민의 신뢰를 빨리 얻을 수 있도록 고치는 것"이라며 관리형 비대위가 될 것임을 예고하며 "비어 있는 당직을 빨리 채워 당내 모든 조직이 활발하게 활동하도록 하고, 전당대회를 열어 후임 지도부를 선출해 두 가지를 모두 성공하면 관리된다"고 강조했다.
그러면서 "몇 달이 걸릴지는 모르겠지만, 국민의 신뢰를 빨리 얻을 수 있도록 고쳐가겠다. 국민들이 우리 국민의힘에 무엇이 부족하다고 생각하는지, 뭘 잘못하고 있다고 생각하는지 조속히 찾아서 고치겠다"고 약속했다.
