브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 스타벅스 코리아는 30일 보도자료를 통해 지난 29일 전남 보성군의 차 재배 농가인 18곳에 친환경 커피 퇴비 1만포대를 전달했다고 밝혔다.
이날 보성읍 소재 보림제다를 방문한 스타벅스 파트너들은 김철우 보성군수, 보성차생산자조합 서상균 조합장, 보성 지역 차 재배농가 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 전달식을 가졌다. 보성 지역 차 농가 지원을 위해 스타벅스가 기부한 커피 퇴비 1만포대는 200톤 분량에 달한다.
스타벅스는 2015년부터 경기도와 농산물 소비 촉진 및 자원 재활용을 위한 협력을 맺은 후로 현재까지 커피찌꺼기로 만드는 퇴비 생산을 지속 지원해 오고 있다. 2016년에는 업계 최초로 환경부, 자원순환사회연대와 커피찌꺼기 재활용 활성화 시범사업을 위한 업무 협약을 체결했으며, 이를 통해 커피찌꺼기를 재활용하는 프로세스를 구축한 바 있다.
이를 통해 지난 8년 간 스타벅스가 지원해 온 커피 퇴비의 누적 생산량은 현재까지 975만포대로 연내 총 1000만포대 누적 생산 돌파가 예상된다.
