[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 14일 밀양 삼량진읍 임천리 일원에서 국내 스마트농업 확산의 거점 기능을 하게 될 ‘경남 스마트팜 혁신밸리’ 준공식을 열고 본격적인 운영에 들어간다고 밝혔다.
‘농업의 대전환, 스마트 시대를 열다’라는 주제로 진행된 이날 준공식은 박완수 경상남도지사, 김인중 농식품부 차관, 박일호 밀양시장, 최학범 도의회 부의장, 김현철 도의회 농해양수산위원장, 농업인 단체장, 청년농업인 등 150여 명이 참석해 스마트농업 분야의 새로운 출발을 격려했다.
경남도는 스마트팜 확산 기반을 구축하고자 농림축산식품부의 ‘스마트팜 혁신밸리 조성사업’을 2019년 3월에 유치했으며, 2020년 10월에 착공해 이날 준공했다.
‘경남 스마트팜 혁신밸리’는 총 941억 원을 투입해 스마트팜에 특화된 청년농을 육성하고 미래 스마트농업 기술을 연구·생산하는 거점으로 활용하게 된다. 총면적 22.1ha 규모에 청년창업보육센터, 임대형 스마트팜, 실증단지 지원센터와 기숙사를 갖추게 됐다.

청년창업보육센터에서는 매년 만 18세 이상 39세 이하인 청년 52명을 선발해 스마트팜을 전문으로 하는 청년 창업농을 양성하는 시설로 20개월간 실습교육을 실시한다.
임대형 스마트팜은 청년보육과정을 수료하거나 영농경험이 없는 청년농업인이 저렴한 임대비용으로 3년간 영농기술을 축적하고 창업비용을 마련하도록 돕게 된다.
박 도지사는 기념사를 통해 “스마트팜 혁신밸리가 청년이 돌아오고, 스마트농업이 경남 전체로 확산되는 농업의 대전환점이 될 것”이라며 “경남도는 소규모의 스마트팜을 지속적으로 추진해 나가는 한편, 농업의 혁신적인 변화를 시작하는 선구자적인 역할을 할 수 있도록 더욱 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
