[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 홍남표 창원특례시장은 19일 현대로템 창원공장에서 개최된 ‘수도권광역급행철도차량(GTX)-A 출고식’에 참석해 GTX-A의 첫 출고를 축하했다.
현대로템은 지난 2020년 국토부로부터 수주한 GTX-A 전동차 160량 중 이번에 8량 출고를 시작으로 나머지 차량들도 순차적으로 출고할 예정이다.
이번에 첫선을 보인 GTX-A 전동차는 8량이 1편성으로 구성되며, 향후 시운전을 거쳐 운정역(경기도 파주시)∽동탄역(경기도 화성시)을 잇는 82.1km 구간에서 운행될 예정이다.
이날 행사는 원희룡 국토교통부 장관을 비롯해 박완수 경상남도지사, 홍남표 창원특례시장, 이용배 현대로템 대표이사, 주요 협력사 대표 등이 참석한 가운데 GTX 경과보고, 홍보영상 시청, 출고기념 세리머니, GTX-A 시승 순으로 진행됐다.
GTX는 지하 40m 이하의 대심도에 선로를 구축해 노선을 직선화하고 기존 지하철보다 빠른 속도의 차량을 투입해 서울과 수도권을 기존 도시철도보다 빠르게 연결하는 광역급행철도이다.
특히, 최고운행속도 80~100km/h의 지하철 전동차와 달리, 최고운행속도가 180km/h에 달하여 서울과 수도권을 30분대로 연결할 수 있어 수도권 외곽의 교통격차 해결이 기대된다.
