박정하 국민의힘 수석대변인은 28일 논평에서 "김경수 전 경남도지사의 신년 특별사면 출소의 첫 일성이 '유감 표명'이었다는 점에서 국민의힘 역시 참으로 '유감'"이라고 밝혔다. 박 수석대변인은 김 전 지사를 향해 "특별 사면이 됐다고 해서 원죄가 사라진 것으로 단단히 착각이라도 하고 있는 것인가"라며 이같이 적었다.
박 수석대변인은 이어 "국민 통합과 대한민국의 저력을 회복하기 위해 원칙과 기준에 따른 신년 특별사면을 두고도 '받고 싶지 않은 선물' 운운하는 김 전 지사의 모습은 우리 정치의 발전과 국민 통합의 목적마저 퇴색시킨 채 실망마저 안겨 주었다"며 "경남도민과 국민께 먼저 자신의 죗값에 대한 반성과 사죄를 했어도 모자랄 판"이라고 주장했다.
그러면서 "국론을 분열시키고 국기 문란을 일으키며 국민을 갈라치기 한 장본인의 입에서 반성은커녕 통합을 저해하는 무도한 언행을 바라보는 국민의 시선은 싸늘할 수밖에 없을 것"이라고 비판했다.
앞서 '드루킹 댓글 조작 사건'으로 복역 중이던 김경수 전 지사는 윤석열 정부의 신년 특별사면 대상자로 선정돼 28일 자정을 조금 넘겨 출소했다. 김 전 지사는 출소 직후 발언에서 "이번 사면은 받고 싶지 않은 선물을 억지로 받은 셈"이라며 "국민 통합을 위해서라는데 통합은 이런 일방통행, 우격다짐으로 이뤄지지 않는다는 것을 국민들이 훨씬 더 잘 알고 계실 것"이라고 밝혔다.
