[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시 김화영 마산회원구청장은 70여년 전 6·25전쟁에서 무공을 세운 故김명찬, 故이민규님의 유족에게 화랑무공훈장을 전수했다고 12일 밝혔다.
국방부와 육군은 6.25 참전용사 훈장 미 수여자들을 발굴하고, 지방자치단체와 협조하여 서훈 대상자 및 유족에게 훈장을 전달하는 ‘6·25전쟁 무공훈장 주인공 찾기’ 사업을 추진 중에 있다.
이에 故김명찬님은 1950년 6.25전쟁 발발 이후 그해 9월 입대해 5사단 분대원으로 강원도 홍천지구 전투의 공적을 인정받아 무성화랑 무공훈장이 전수 됐고, 故이민규님은 1950년 12월 입대해 9사단 분대원으로 강원도 정선지구 전투공적을 인정받아 은성화랑 무공훈장이 전수됐다.
김화영 마산회원구청장은 “나라를 위해 헌신하신 故김명찬님과 故이민규님 전공을 기리고, 늦었지만 유족에게 직접 무공훈장을 전해드릴 수 있게 돼 기쁘고 영광스럽다”며 “조국을 위해 희생하신 참전유공자와 유가족분들 예우에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
