진주시 ‘KAI 회전익 비행센터’ 건립 순항

[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 20일 항공산업의 중심이 될 한국항공우주산업㈜ 회전익 비행센터 건립사업이 순조롭게 진행되고 있다고 밝혔다.

‘KAI 회전익 비행센터’건립은 민간기업이 대규모로 투자하는 국내 유일의 항공 시설로 진주시가 전략산업으로 육성 중인 항공우주산업과 지역 일자리 창출을 위해 추진하고 있는 기업유치 시책의 대표적인 사업이다.

진주시와 KAI는 2021년 6월과 12월 이반성면 가산일반산업단지 내 4만 평 규모의 회전익 비행센터 설립을 위한 투자협약 및 투자합의각서를 각각 체결했고 현재 부지조성이 마무리 단계에 있다.

KAI는 비행센터 설립을 위해 올해 3월 설계를 완료했고 상반기 착공 후 2024년 하반기부터 본격 운영할 계획이다.

한편 진주시는 미래 모빌리티와 항공우주산업을 지역의 신성장 동력산업으로 설정하고 배후 부지인 경남항공국가산업단지를 조성 중으로, 현재 69% 공정률을 보이고 있으며 올 하반기부터 분양할 예정이다.
