브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 효성은 16일 충남 계룡시 육군본부를 찾아 ‘나라사랑 보금자리’ 사업에 1억 원을 전달했다고 밝혔다.
이번 후원금은 다른 참여 기업의 후원금과 함께 참전 유공자 총 10가구의 주거 환경을 개선하고, 100여 명의 임대주택 거주를 지원하는 데 사용될 예정이다. 특히, 올해는 수교 65주년을 맞아 태국의 6∙25 참전용사 3가구에 대한 보금자리도 지원한다.
작년에는 멕시코의 참전 용사 2가구를 포함해 6∙25와 월남전 참전 용사 총 9가구의 주거 환경을 개선했으며, 95가구가 임대주택 입주 지원을 받았다.
효성은 2012년부터 나라사랑 보금자리 사업을 후원하고 있다. 나라사랑 보금자리는 6∙25전쟁과 월남전 참전 용사들의 희생과 헌신에 감사하고 그들의 공로를 예우하기 위한 사업이다.
육군본부를 중심으로 민관군이 참여해 생활이 어려운 참전 용사의 노후 주택을 새로 짓거나 보수해 주거 환경 개선을 돕는다. 참전유공자 중 기초수급자, 차상위계층을 대상으로 2년간 주택 임대료도 지원한다.
한편, 효성은 ‘나눔으로 함께하겠습니다’라는 슬로건 아래 취약계층 지원, 문화예술후원, 호국보훈 세 가지 테마의 사회공헌을 펼치고 있다. 이달 24일에는 호국보훈의 달을 맞이하는 의미로 국립서울현충원을 방문해 묘역 정화 임직원 봉사활동을 진행한다.
